Women in Ministry

Because I’m a woman in ministry, one of the most-asked questions of me is, “Doesn’t the Bible say that women shouldn’t teach?” In this three CD seminar set, we will look all through Scripture and understand its perspective on women in ministry. We’ll use cross-referencing and word studies to decipher what Paul meant when he said that women shouldn’t teach, or that women should remain silent. Both men and women will experience freedom to walk in the fullness of the call of God on their lives as a result of exploring this dynamic subject.

This CD seminar was recorded professionally, in-studio.

  2. Contexts — Then and Now
  3. Meaning and Application

Old Testament Survey – Thursdays, March 26th through May 21st (Janine Bear)

This class will use the history of the formation and progression of Israel as its primary source of information. The story of the Old Testament is the story of Israel – their quest for a promised land, then their loss of that land. This course will cover each time period and the books that were authored during that time period. We’ll look at each of the prophetic books and put it in the context of its original audience. By the end of the course, the student will have memorized the books of our Old Testament, be able to draw a chart of Israel’s history as told in the Old Testament, and know where each of the prophetic books fall in the history. They will have a wonderful framework for understanding the Old Testament as a history, instead of as a group of random incidents.

Class meets for 9 consecutive Thursday nights from 6:30pm until 7:50pm beginning March 26th at Janine Bear’s home in Champlin (click for map).

The Hiding Place

“I pray that God forgive them…”

Corrie Ten Boom stood naked with her older sister Betsie, watching a concentration camp matron beating a prisoner. “Oh, the poor woman,” Corrie cried. “Yes. May God forgive her,” Betsie replied. And, once again, Corrie realized that it was for the souls of the brutal Nazi guards that her sister prayed.

Both women had been sent to the camp for helping the Jews. Christ’s Spirit and words were their guide; it was His persecuted people they tried to save—at the risk of their own lives; it was His strength that sustained them through times of profound horror.

Here is a book aglow with the glory of God and the courage of a quiet Christian spinster whose life was transformed by it. A story of Christ’s message and the courage woman who listened and lived to pass it along—with joy and triumph!

Author Bio:

In the years since the closing chapter of this book, Corrie Ten Boom traveled ceaselessly, carrying her message of triumphant living all over the world, especially behind the Iron Curtain. The author of devotional books treasured by millions, she is also a colorful, amusing speaker with a hold on young audiences that is but one of her many intriguing personal mysteries. This is the full story behind the faith that has touched and stirred and changed so many lives everywhere.

The students will work together in encouraging each other, equipping the body, and working toward a body fitly joined!
