What journey does God have you on right now?Look to Him (from Lead Like Jesus)
____________________________________

What journey does God have you on right now? What challenges do you face? Whatever your answer to these questions, know that you are not alone today. God is with you. God is on your side. He is the source of life, life eternal, life as it was meant to be lived. Jesus longs to help you find your way. Seek Him and find life. Look to His example. Follow His ways. Allow Him to lead you, and trust Him to do so.

SCRIPTURE:

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
—Colossians 1:15-17

PRAYER:

Jesus, we look to You. Be exalted in our lives, as we lead like You, and pray in Your name, Amen.

First Look Within (from Lead Like Jesus)
___________________________________

As leaders, we are often outwardly focused. We see things that need to be done, people that need to be directed, challenged, and encouraged. We see situations requiring input and direction. To be effective in what God calls us to do, we need to focus inwardly before trying to exert our influence. Time to worship, to acknowledge God as the source of life, and the One whom we seek to please; time to allow Him to minister to our souls and re-calibrate our hearts; time to hear His wisdom and direction; these are essential practices. Exalting God inwardly leads to exalting God outwardly.

SCRIPTURE:

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
—Psalm 46:10

PRAYER:

O Lord, still our anxious thoughts. Tune our hearts to Your presence, Your Spirit, Your greatness and goodness, Your power and sovereignty. Be exalted in, through, and among us, we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd <><Focusing on the names of Christ during the Christmas season can help you and your family learn more about Him.

In the Old Testament the Hebrew culture placed a great emphasis on names. Character qualities were associated with different names; parents would give a child a name they hoped would prove prophetic—a quality that child would embody. In the same way, many Christian parents today choose the names of their children with the hope that these names will encourage those children to develop certain godly qualities. Josiah, for example, means "God supports," and David means "beloved one."

If you look through the Bible, you will find many different names used for Jesus Christ. My family has found that focusing on the names of Christ during the Christmas season can provide many opportunities for adults and children to learn there is so much more than just the sweet Christmas ceremony to celebrate.

Nothing is more precious than seeing how we honor His name. As you learn the meaning behind the names of Christ, you learn more about Him and the difference He makes in our lives.
Today let's look at The Good Shepherd.

"I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep." —John 10:11

God put His shepherd here on this earth to be our shepherd. You see Him in John 10 as the shepherd in charge of the sheepfold, and whose sheep follow Him, and have eternal life. Scripture says that God knows His sheep, which is exciting to me.

A shepherd's staff functions as both a prod to get sheep to move and a crook to pull them in line and protect them. Among the dumbest of all animals, sheep will literally eat as they walk, not looking where they are going, and go right off the side of a mountain. They can be caught in a briar patch because of their wool. Their shepherd will go down and put that crook around their neck, and he'll lift them up and rescue them. You can celebrate at Christmas that Jesus always cares for you in this same way, and He can always rescue you. #goodshepherd bit.ly/1RZHBwM

Today's Prayer (from Prime Time with God)
_______________________________________

Dear God, today I lift up all teachers to You. I pray for Your anointing upon their lives, their work, their ministry. I pray You will give them wisdom, knowledge, guidance, patience, love, protection, understanding, insight and everything they need to be a positive life-changing influence upon those they teach. I pray You will keep them safe from all harm and evil. I pray You will bring to their minds the lessons and information they need to teach and the ability and skills to do what is good, right, and best in every situation. I pray that each one will not see their profession and standing as just a job, but as an opportunity to make a difference in lives and show Your love to others. May they be salt and light in this world. May they rely on Your strength and grace each and every day to accomplish that which You would have them do. Bless them, father, as Your servants and children. And may they be a blessing to others with whom they work and teach. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
